Confederate Soldiers and Militiaman Buried At Riverside Cemetery.

 Graves Award 



Compatriot Ashley Pollette is presented the national Graves Award by Brigade Commander Stan Peacock. Compatriot Pollette is the Rebmaster of the Theophilus West, M.D. Camp 1346 and has worked with Commander Basford and Compatriot Larry Clere on the cemetery project for Camp 1346.  The Camp is proud one of our members received such a prestigious award.

Captain Walter Jacob Robinson
Company A, 11th Florida Infantry

Walter Jacob Robinson, son of Jacob Robinson & Jane Mary Lawson Robinson, was born in Georgia, 1 June 1820. Walter died 1 June 1890, in Jackson County, Florida. He is buried in the family cemetery on Carter's Mill Road. Walter is listed in the 1860 census as a “Farmer and a Gent of high rank.” In 1861, he is listed as Captain of the “Chipola Rangers.” This company mustered in as Company E, 2nd Battalion, Florida Infantry, at Merritt’s Bridge, on 11 August 1862. This company became Company A, 11th Florida Infantry, on 8 June 1864. The company was a member of Finegan’s Brigade, Mahone’s Division, A. P. Hill’s Corps, Army of Northern Virginia. During 1863 and 1864, Captain Robinson was in and out of several Confederate Army hospital’s with various illnesses. He was home, on sick furlough, during the Marianna Raid. Captain Robinson volunteered his services with Captain Norwood's "Cradle to Grave" Home Guard. Captain Robinson managed to escape across the Chipola River.
