Private Chesley Arnold Chesley Arnold was born 15 Mar 1838 in Herd County, Georgia, and died 13 Mar 1897 in Jackson County, Florida. He married Margaret Bevins on 22 Dec 1865. On 25 Sep 1861, he enlisted in Captain Barnes' Company. This company became Company I, 4th Florida Infantry and Chesley remained with Company I until he was captured at Dallas, Georgia (one record states Dalton, Georgia) on 27 May 1864. He remained at Rock Island, Illinois until the end of the war. Chesley took 'The Oath" on 17 Jun 1865, before being released from prison. Pinckney Bevis GPS N30° 55.428' W85°7.080' Joshua Pinckney Bevis was born in Lawrence, South Carolina, on 13 Apr 1840. He enlisted in Company E, 8th Florida Infantry Regiment, at Marianna, Florida, on 13 may 1862. He was 22 years old at the time of his enlistment. Joshua was taken prisoner at Fredrick, Maryland on 12 Sep 1862 and was exchanged at Aiken's landing, Virginia, on 10 Nov 1862. He was captured a second time at Farmville, Virginia, while on picket duty by Union cavalry, on 6 April 1865. Joshua was confined at Newport News, Virginia on 8 Apr 1865. He took "The oath" on 24 June 1865 and was released. He enlisted at Marianna, Florida in Company C, 1st Florida Reserves on 2 May 1864, as a private. He was surrendered By General Sam Jones and was paroled at Quincy, Florida, on 20 May 1865. he is listed as taking "The Oath" on 20 May 1865. GPS N30° 55.443' W85°7.098' John Gabriel Edwards was born 11 Dec 1841 in Henry County, Alabama. He enlisted in 1861 at Apalachicola, Florida in Captain A. B. Hamilton's Black Hawk State troops. When this company was disbanded he enlisted in in Captain Dunham's Light Artillery on 10 Mar 1862. He was surrendered by General Sam Jones and was discharged at Quincy, Florida.
