Thomas L Bevis
This is an example of how not to clean a headstone. The name and dates have been blasted off the stone. Water and sand pressure should never be used. If you must clean a headstone use very mild soap and water. Headstones are like people, when they get old they are suppose to look old. Thomas Leverett Bevis, son of William Langley Bevis and Jane Virginia Palmer, was born in South Carolina, on 31 Oct 1837, and he died in Jackson County, Florida, on 28 Dec 1907. He enlisted in Company A, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry on 5 Aug 1862, at Chattahoochee, Florida. He was surrendered at Tallahassee, Florida on 16 May 1865 and paroled at Tallahassee, Florida, on 17 May 1865. [FLORIDA CONFEDERATE PENSION #A00665 - NARA Pub M251 REEL 16 - EGA DATABASE] |
