Daniel C. Buie was born in Gadsden County, Florida, 30 Oct 1846, and died in Washington County, Florida, on 24 Dec 1925. Daniel enlisted in Company A, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry, on 2 Aug 1864, at Iola, Florida. He was paroled 30 May 1865. [ANCESTRY.COM - FL CONFEDERATE PENSION A05700]
James A. Buie was born 24 Sep 1832, and he died on 8 Jan 1897. He enlisted in Company E, 2nd Battalion Florida Infantry on 11 Aug 1862, at Merritt's Bridge, Florida. He was promoted to 3rd Sergeant on 1 May 1863, and demoted to Private on 1 Jul 1863. On 2 Oct 1863, he was transferred to Company A, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry. He was also promoted to 4th Sergeant on 2 Oct 1863. James was reduced in rank to private on 5 Mar 1864. [ANCESTRY.COM]
Joseph W. Callaway, son of Fair B. Callaway and Rebecca Russ Callaway, was born in Jackson County, Florida, on 16 Apr 1847, and died in Chipley, Washington County, Florida, on 27 Jun 1921. Joseph enlisted in Troop I (Perry's Company) 5th Battalion (Scott's Battalion) Florida Cavalry on 15 Mar 1864, at Marianna, Florida. He was surrendered at Quincy, Florida, on 11 May 1865, and was paroled there on 23 May 1865. He married Sarah Emily Collier at Campbellton, Florida, on 1 Apr 1869. Robert Henry Callaway, son of Fair B. Callaway and Rebecca Russ Callaway, enlisted in Company I, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry at Marianna, Florida, on 13 May 1864. He was surrendered at Quincy, Florida, on 11 May 1865, and was paroled on 23 May 1865. [NARA PUB M251 REEL 16]
Dr. John L Casey, son of William Thomas Casey and Elizabeth Helen Loyd Casey, was born 9 Jun 1832, and died in 1869. He married Jane Tabitha Daniel on 24 Jun 1859, in Jackson County, Florida. Dr. John Casey is listed as being in the War Between the States, but no record has been found. One record for J. L. Casey exists for 10th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry (State Guards), and two more for a John L. Casey in the Georgia Infantry. Thomas Erskine Clarke enlisted in Company E, 1st Florida Regiment, on 5 Apr 1861, and was discharged on 1 Apr 1862, at Montgomery, Alabama, due to end of enlistment. He re-enlisted into Company E, 8th Florida Regiment, as Captain, on 13 May 1862. Company E, 8th Florida Regiment was formed in Marianna, Jackson County, Florida. Captain Clarke was promoted to Major on 2 Oct 1862, and was transferred to Field and Staff of the 8th Florida Infantry Regiment. He received a slight head wound at Fredericksburg, Virginia, 11 Dec 1862. Major Clarke was in command of the 8th Regiment when it surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, 9 Apr 1866. William J. Daniel is listed in Captain Smith's Company, at Campbellton, Florida, on 6 Feb 1863. [NARA PUB M251, REEL 19 - CIVILWARMICROFILM.COM]
James Davis enlisted in Captain Hunter's Company (D), 4th Florida Infantry at Apalachicola, Florida, on 30 Aug 1861. He was discharged 28 Nov 1862, possibly due to his age. [NARA PUB M251, REEL 54 - CIVILWARMICROFILM.COM]
Jonathan Deal enlisted in Company E, 57th Alabama Infantry Regiment at Fort Gaines, Georgia, 19 Sep 1863. In Jan 1864 he is listed as being in a hospital in Macon, Georgia, with bronchitis. Bartlett A. Hinson enlisted in Company E, 2nd Battalion Florida Infantry at Merritt's Bridge, Jackson County, Florida. He was promoted to corporal on 16 Sep 1862, but was reduced in rank to private on 15 Feb 1862. On 7 Oct 1863, he was transferred to Captain Milton's Cavalry Company (Company A, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry). He was surrendered at Quincy, Florida on 11 May 1865, and paroled on 24 May 1865. Harley Hinson was enlisted as a 2nd Sergeant of Company F, 2nd Florida Infantry Regiment, 10 May 1861. The company was mustered into Confederate Service in Jul 1861. Harley was taken prisoner at the Battle of Gettysburg on 3 Jul 1863. He would spend the next two years at Fort Delaware as a POW. Harley is listed on his prison record as being 5’9” tall, with a light complexion, and having dark hair, and gray eyes. He took “The Oath” on 10 Jun 1865. Note: Many Confederate Soldiers were kept in POW camps until they took the oath.

William Henry Hinson, son of John Hadley Hinson and Elizabeth Ann Avirett Hinson, was born 10 Sep 1842, in Decatur County, Georgia. He died in Jackson County, Florida, 10 Dec 1873. He married Annie McBain in Jackson County, Florida, on 11 May 1865. William enlisted in Captain Smith's Marianna Dragoons, on 14 Mar 1862, and was given a disability discharge from the same company, on 21 Jun 1862. He is listed as being 5' 6" tall and having a dark complexion, gray eyes, and light hair. [ANCESTRY.COM - NARA PUB M251 REEL 19]
Henry F. Horne enlisted as 3rd Sergeant in Captain Davidson's Company, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment 12 Mar 1862, at Quincy, Florida. Captain Davidson's company became Company A, 6th Florida Regiment. He gave up his rank and transferred to "Brass Band" 12 Jun 1862. He was then detailed as a quartermaster clerk, until he returned to Company A in Sep 1862. In early 1863 he was detailed as a clerk with the Examining Board in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and transferred out of the company on 22 Aug 1863, to the 1st Florida Cavalry. He served on the Examining Board of the 1st Florida Cavalry for a period of time in 1863. In 1863, he was listed as being 26 years old, and was 5' 11' tall, with a fair complexion, blue eyes and light hair. He was wounded near Atlanta in Aug 1864. Charles Robert Jones, son of C. R. and Virginia Jones, was born in Caroline County, Virginia, on 22 Sep 1839, and he died in Jackson County, Florida, on 26 Jun 1925. Charles enlisted in Company A, 25th Alabama Infantry, in Feb 1862. He was wounded in the neck and arm on 17 Aug 1864, near Atlanta, Georgia. He states the rifle ball entered just behind his right ear and "ranging down" his neck and lodged just under the right collar bone. Patrick H. Pybus enlisted in Company A, 1st Alabama Infantry Regiment in Sep 1863, at Columbia, Alabama. Patrick writes that he was born in Houston County, Georgia, on 1 Oct 1848. Patrick states he was wounded in the right hand. He was mustered out after the close of the war at Columbia, Alabama. [FL CONFEDERATE PENSION APPLICATION A04028]
Marcellas C. Tarver enlisted in Company C, 3rd Alabama Infantry Regiment on 3 Aug 1861, at Norfolk, Virginia. He was discharged in Mar 1862 by order of the Confederate Secretary of War. [NARA PUB M 311-FOOTNOTE.COM]
