Henry Carpenter, son of William Carpenter and Isabella Baker, was born in Jackson County, Florida, on 22 Nov 1838. He enlisted at Blue Springs, Jackson County, Florida, in Company G, 2nd Florida Cavalry, on 22 Aug 1863. He engaged against the enemy at the Battle of Natural Bridge, Ocean Pond, Cedar Creek Ford, and Gainesville, Florida. Major General Sam Jones at Baldwin, Duval County, Florida, surrendered him on 17 May 1865. He died on 30 Aug 1912, and is buried at the Carpenter Family Cemetery, Jackson County, Florida. James Carpenter, son of William Carpenter and Isabella Baker, was born in Jackson County, Florida, in 1841 and he died on 8 Sep 1908. He enlisted at Apalachicola Arsenal, Chattahoochee, Florida, in Company F, 6th Florida Infantry, on 4 March 1862. He was wounded in the hand near Atlanta, Georgia in 1864 and was captured near Nashville, Tennessee, on Dec 16, 1864. He was released from Camp Douglas, Illinois, on 18 Jun 1865. John Joseph Carpenter, son of William Carpenter and Isabella Baker, was born in Jackson County, Florida, 15 Nov 1845, and died on 5 Feb 1900. He enlisted in Captain George Robinson's Home Guard about 15 Jun 1864, and remained with the company until it was disbanded. [FLORIDA CONFEDERATE PENSION # A01473 - EGS DATABASE]
William Carpenter, son of William Carpenter and Isabella Baker, was born in Jackson County, Florida, on 2 Jan 1838, and he died on 16 Nov 1922. He enlisted in Company F, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment on 11 Feb 1862, at Apalachicola Arsenal, River Junction, Florida. . In 1863 he was charged $53.86 for loss of his gun and equipment. He was in a Confederate hospital with chronic diarrhea for some time. William was surrendered at Quincy, Florida, on 11 May 1865, and was paroled there on 22 May 1865. Zeckliedge Johnson, son of Alfred Johnson and Annis B. McGlamry, was born 24 May 1831, in Georgia. He was a brother-in-law to the Carpenter brothers listed above. He married their sister, Frances Carpenter, in 1857. Zeckliedge enlisted in Company F, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment at Apalachicola Arsenal, on 4 May 1862. He was detailed Company Cook on 17 Dec 1863. On 7 Dec 1864, he was captured at Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He took "The Oath" on 13 June 1865, and was released from Camp Chase, Ohio. Miles Minor Nelson was born 18 Jul 1818, in Alabama. No record of service has been located. He may have been a member of a local militia company. If you have any information on this person, please contact Adjutant Larry Clere or Compatriot Ashley Pollette.
