Private William Henry Cox
Robinson's Greenwood Club Cavalry

William Henry Cox, son of Joseph B. Cox and Mary Scott Cox, was born in Parramore Community, Jackson County, Florida, 24 Jun 1845. He was with Robinson's Club Cavalry at the Battle of Marianna, 27 Sep 1864, and escaped across the Chipola River to avoid capture. On 31 Dec 1872, he married Elizabeth Jane Owens. William Henry died 15 Jul 1918, and is buried at Circle Hill (Pine Level) Baptist Church Cemetery. [WEST FLORIDA WAR -EGS DATABASE]

Private James Ray
Company C, 51st Georgia Infantry Regiment

James Ray was born in Decatur County, Georgia, 23 Apr 1835, and lived in Jackson County, Florida, from Jan 1889, until he died on 16 Dec 1917, in Jackson County, Florida.. On 4 Mar 1862, he enlisted in Company C, 51st Georgia Infantry. Records indicate he was captured at Knoxville, Tennessee, 3 Dec 1863, and transferred to Rock Island Barracks, Illinois. He was discharged from prision on 17 Jun 1865, after taking "the Oath." He is listed as being 5' 5½" tall, with blue eyes, dark hair, and a "fresh" complexion. Private Sherwood (Sherd) Scott
Company A, 11th Florida Infantry Regiment



Sherwood (Sherrod) Scott, son of William Thomas Scott and Elizabeth Rieves, was born in Jackson County, Florida,  about 1828. He enlisted in Company A, 11th Florida Infantry, but spent a great deal of time in Confederate Hospitals. The records are of poor quality and hard to read. Sherwood died in 1890 or 1895. He married Charity Wood 14 Jun 1854, and then Sarah Domony, 12 Jan 1862, in Jackson County, Florida. [NARA Publication M251 REEL 102 - EGS DATABASE - ANCESTRY.COM]
