Private James Earl Comerford
Company E, 6th Florida Infantry

James Earl Comerford, son of John Phillip Comerford and Annis Sims, was born on 22 Jun 1838, in Jackson County, and he died in 1906. James enlisted on 1 Feb 1862, in Company E (Captain H. O. Bassett's Company), 6th Florida Infantry Regiment. He also served in the State Militia in late 1861. He was captured at The Battle of Atlanta, Georgia, on 22 Jul 1864. Records show he was transferred to City Point, Virginia, 4 Mar 1865, and exchanged. His was surrendered at Quincy, Florida, 11 May 1865, and paroled at the same place on 22 May 1865. James Earl Comerford is actually buried with his wife at the Coulliette Family Cemetery[FLORIDA CONFEDERATE PENSION A07623 - EDENFIELD DATABASE]

John Phillip (Doc) Comerford, Jr., son of John Phillip Comerford and his first wife, was born in South Carolina in 1829, and he died in 1896. He was a member of Captain William H.
