James Earl Comerford, son of John Phillip Comerford and Annis Sims, was born on 22 Jun 1838, in Jackson County and he died in 1906. James enlisted on 1 Feb 1862, in Company E (Captain H. O. Bassett's Company), 6th Florida Infantry Regiment. He also served in the State Militia in late 1861. He was captured at The Battle of Atlanta, Georgia, on 22 July 1864. Records show he was transferred to City Point, Virginia, 4 March 1865, and exchanged. His name appears on a roll of soldiers who were surrendered at Quincy, Florida, 11 May 1865, and paroled at the same place on 22 May 1865. [FLORIDA CONFEDERATE PENSION A07623 - EDENFIELD DATABASE]
