William Davis enlisted as a 2nd Sergeant in Company C, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment on 11 Jan 1862. He was discharged on 4 Feb 1863, after providing James Sadler as a substitute. It appears he returned to Jackson County, where the Governor appointed him to oversee several farms for soldiers who died or were killed in service. His pension records indicate he had some type of relationship with Governor Milton and that he was called up for military duty when the Federal Army was advancing on Tallahassee in 1865. Private Wilber F. Jenkins
Company E, 8th Florida Infantry Regiment

Wilber F. Jenkins was nineteen years old when he enlisted in Company E, 8th Florida Infantry Regiment at Marianna, on 13 May 1862. He was wounded at Culpeper, Virginia, 1 Aug 1863. He was listed as absent from Aug 1863 until Dec 1863 on wounded furlough. Wilber was captured at Petersburg, Virginia, 3 Apr 1865. He was sent to Hart's Island, New York, where he was released on 19 Jun 1865. He is listed as being 5' 9and 1/2" tall with dark hair and hazel eyes. His complexion was fair. Wilber was born in North Carolina on 3 Oct 1843, and he died in Jackson County, Florida, in 1895.  [NARA M251 REEL83 - ANCESTRY.COM]

Sheriff Whitman Hill Kimball

Whitman Hill Kimbell (Kimball), son of William Kimbell and Mary Hinton, was born 15 Jul 1825 and died 21 Feb 1905. He enlisted in Company G, 2nd Florida Cavalry at Camp Johnston, Florida on 28 Feb 1863. On 1 Sep 1863 he transferred from Company G, to Company A, 2nd Florida Cavalry. He was discharged Company A, on 22 Nov 1863, when he was elected Sheriff of Jackson County.  Sheriff Kimbell also served in Captain Robinson's Company of Home Guards.  He was Sheriff of Jackson County when he was captured during the Marianna Raid and imprisoned at New Orleans, Ship Island and Elmira. He was released from Elmira on 29 May 1865. He is listed as being 6'1" tall, with grey eyes, light hair, and light complexion. Henry Knapp enlisted in Company A, 5th Florida Cavalry Battalion on 24 Feb 1864. He was captured 20 March 1865. No later record found. [NARA Pub M251 Reel 17 G-0]

Samuel F. Peacock was born in Jackson County, Florida on 5 May 1845*, and he died in Jackson County, Florida on 9 May 1922. Samuel F. Peacock was known as Frank Peacock. He enlisted in Company A, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry 27 Aug 1863.** [ANCESTRY.COM - FLORIDA CONFEDERATE PENSION #A08558 - NARA Pub M251 Reel 11 and Reel 18]

** Some records appear to be mixed. One record indicates he enlisted as a private in Company G, 2nd Florida Cavalry on 27 Aug 1863, and transferred to Company A, 5th Battalion Cavalry on 1 Oct 1863. NARA Pub. M251 Reel 11 N-R confirms Samuel Frank Peacock enlisted in Captain Milton's Independent Cavalry Company, Florida Volunteers (Company G, 2nd Florida Cavalry). Another record has him listed as a deserter, while another lists him as being discharged at the end of the war at Quincy, Florida in May 1865, without any loss of time. It appears the Pension Board awarded him a pension.

Robert R. Pender enlisted in Company A, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry on 27 Apr 1864. He was surrendered at Quincy, Florida, on 11 May 1865, and paroled at that same place on 23 May 1865. He died on 4 Mar 1898. [FLORIDA CONFEDERATE PENSION #A01767 - NARA Pub M251 Reel 18 P-Y]

Andrew Scott enlisted in Captain Robinson's Company of Home Guards. He was at the Battle of Marianna, but escaped capture by crossing the Chipola River. After the war he was elected sheriff for three terms. He died on 17 Aug 1906 [WEST FLORIDA WAR - FLORIDA CONFEDERATE PENSION #A01533]
