Captain John Bargeron Anderson
Company D, 6th Florida Infantry

John Bargeron Anderson, son of Lewis William Anderson and Elizabeth Jane Bargeron, was born in Burke County, Georgia, on 19 Dec 1830. He married Dicy Ann Hays in Early County, Georgia, on 3 Jan 1850. He and Dicy moved to Jackson County, Florida, that same year. John enlisted as a private in Company D, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment at Chattahoochee, Florida, on 14 May 1862. He was enlisted by J. L. Hays. John was detailed as a nurse at Chattahoochee, Florida, for a period of time. He was elected Junior 2nd Lieutenant on 27 Jan 1864. By May 1864 he is found in the company records listed as being wounded near Atlanta. He was captured at Stone’s River, Tennessee, 7 Dec 1864. He is also listed as captain in the records at the time he was captured. When leaving Nashville, Tennessee, he was sent to Fort Delaware, Delaware. John took the Oath of Allegiance, and was released from Fort Delaware Prison on 17 Jun 1865. John Bargeron Anderson died on 7 Mar 1896, in Jackson County, Florida.  Captain Marmaduke N. Dickson
Company I, 4th Florida Infantry Regiment

Marmaduke N. Dickson was twenty-one years old when he enlisted in Captain Barnes’ Company of the 4th Florida Infantry Regiment. He was enlisted and elected 1st Lieutenant on 3 July 1861. On 25 Sep 1861, his company was mustered into the Confederate Army as Company I, 4th Florida Infantry Regiment. He was elected Captain on 15 May 1862. Captain Dickson was captured at Missionary Ridge, Tennessee, on 25 Nov 1863. He was released from Johnston’s Island, Ohio, on 13 Jun 1865, after taking the Oath. 3rd Corporal Henry K. Garrett
Company D, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment

Henry K. Garrett, son of Henry Byrd Garrett and Grace Stallings, enlisted in Captain Hays Company, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment on 8 May 1862, at Apalachicola Arsenal, Florida. This company became Company D, 6th Florida Infantry regiment. He was wounded on 19 Sep 1863, at Chickamauga, Georgia. Henry was born in 1830 and he died in Jackson County, Florida, on 24 Sep 1866. Corporal Benjamin Robert Glover
Company D, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment

Benjamin Robert Glover, son of Benjamin Glover & Mary Amanda Hughes was born on 29 Apr 1832, and died 28 Jan 1872, in Jackson County, Florida. His occupation is listed as a Civil Engineer. Benjamin enlisted as a corporal at Apalachicola Arsenal, Florida, on 2 May 1862, in Company D, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment. He was wounded on 19 Sep 1863, at Chickamauga, Georgia. Francis Marion Knowles, son of Henry Walden Knowles and Nancy Horsley, was born in Georgia, on 26 June 1847, and he died in Jackson County, Florida, on 4 Dec 1903. He married Mary Elizabeth Arabella Cox on 19 Jan 1875. Francis enlisted in Captain George Washington Robinson’s Home Guard in early 1864 and remained on the rolls until the company was disbanded in late April 1865. 2nd Lieutenant Henry Clay Lewis
Company E, 6th Florida Regiment

 

Henry Clay Lewis, son of Arthur Lewis and Isabella Gee Chapman, was born 18 Mar 1842, and died 16 Feb 1875. He enlisted at Mount Vernon Arsenal, Chattahoochee, Florida, as a 2nd sergeant in Captain Bassett's Company, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment, in April 1862. Captain Bassett's Company became Company E, 6th Florida Infantry. He transferred to Captain White's Company (Company E) on 1 Jul 1863 and was elected 2nd Lieutenant. Lieutenant Lewis was captured during the battle of Atlanta on 22 Jul 1864, and was not released from Johnson's Island, Ohio, until 15 Jun 1865. [CIVIL WAR MICROFILM]

Private Alexander Robinson
Company B, 15th Confederate Cavalry 

Alexander Robinson, son of Edward Alexander Robinson and Elizabeth Wood was born in 1836 and died in 1886. He enlisted in Captain J. B. Vaughn’s Company (Company B), 3rd Battalion (Myer’s Battalion) Florida Cavalry, at Cavalry Camp, Florida, on 25 Aug 1862. This Company became Company D, 15th Confederate Cavalry. Captain Henry J. Robinson
Greenwood Club Cavalry

Henry J. Robinson, son of Edward Alexander Robinson and Elizabeth Wood, was born 29 Jan 1840, and he died 6 Sep 1866. Henry enlisted in Captain Hays Company, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment on 14 Mar 1862, at Apalachicola Arsenal, Florida. This company became Company D, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment. He was reported as sick in May thru June 1862. Henry was discharged after furnishing a substitute in 1862. By 1864 he was the teacher of Greenwood Academy, where He organized his students into the Greenwood Club Cavalry. Then he led his students and others from Greenwood, Florida, during the Battle of Marianna on 27 Sep 1864. Henry escaped across the Chipola River.
