Sergeant James M. McCormick
Company L, 11th Florida Infantry Regiment
James Madison Allen McCormick, son of John McCormick and Gilliah Sharrott, was born in Jackson County, Florida, on 1 Oct 1825, and he died on 23 Mar 1900. James enlisted as a sergeant in Company F, 4th Battalion Florida Infantry, at Campbellton, Florida, on 12 Oct 1863. This company would become Company L, 11th Florida Infantry Regiment. In Oct 1863 he was detailed to attend the family of the Confederate Security of War. James spent almost all of the last half of 1864 in Confederate Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia, or on sick leave.
