PRIVATE GEORGE McNealy
Company E, 8th Florida Infantry

 

George Washington McNealy was born in Jackson County, Florida, 21 Dec 1837, and died in Jackson County, Florida, 25 Jan 1928. He married Georgia Anna Reviere and later Sarah A. Martin. George enlisted in Company E, 8th Florida Infantry Regiment on 13 May 1862. He was wounded by a bursting shell which sent a piece of metal thru his body. He indicated in his pension application that the missile entered his body just to the right of his spine, in his lower back and exited at his left hip. He was home on sick/wounded leave for the rest of the war. He was surrendered at Tallahassee, Florida,  on 10 May 1865, and paroled at Quincy, Florida, on 22 May 1865.
