Private Joseph Tyler Allen
Company F, 2nd Florida Infantry

Joseph Tyler Allen was born 18 Oct 1827, in Georgia, and died 18 Aug 1903, in Jackson County, Florida. Joseph moved to Jackson County, Florida, in the year 1857. He enlisted on 4 May 1861, (CSR indicate 10 May 1861) in Captain McClellan's Company, Jackson County, Florida. This company becoming Company F, 2nd Florida Infantry. He was wounded at Cedar Mountain or 2nd Manassas, Virginia, in August 1862, resulting of amputation of the right leg four inches above the knee. Private Jesse Brogden
Company E, 8th Florida Infantry Regiment

Jesse Brogden was born about 1828 in Bertie County, North Carolina, and died 4 May 1900. His place of burial is New Hope Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Two Egg, Jackson County, Florida. He enlisted in Company E, 8th Florida Regiment 13 May 1862. On 2 Mar 1865, his name is found on the Provost Marshall Washington D.C. Private William Riley Green Glisson
Company B, 2nd Florida Cavalry

William Riley Green Glisson, son of Riley Glisson, was born about 1844 in Georgia or South Carolina. He died on 15 Aug 1887, and is buried at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Two Egg, Jackson County, Florida. He enlisted on 7 Nov 1861, in Captain Hopkin's Mounted Company, which was attached to the 4th Infantry Regiment. In early 1862 he re-enlisted in Captain Stevenson's Company of Independent Cavalry. This Company became Company B, 2nd Florida Cavalry. The Compiled Service Records for William Riley Glisson are damaged, but it appears he was captured. [NARA PUB M251 REEL 8 Do - G; - EGS DATABASE]

Private Thomas John Mitchell
Company E, 1st Florida Infantry Regimen

Thomas John Mitchell was born in Wilkerson County, Georgia about 1836*, and he died  28 May 1917. Thomas enlisted at Chattahoochee, Florida, in Company F, 4th Florida Regiment in 4 May 1862. On 20 Sep 1862,  he was detailed as "Teamster". This company became Company E, 1st Florida Regiment. He was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina, on 1 May 1865. *Pension application signed by Thomas J. Mitchell gives both 7 Sep 1833 and 7 Dec 1836 as his birth date.

Private Alfred Nicholas
Company C, 1st Florida Reserves

Alfred Nicholas, son of Elisha Nicholas was born in Pitts County, North Carolina, on 14 Mar 1822, and died in Dec 1904. He enlisted in Captain W. W. Poe's Company which became Company C, 1st Florida Reserves on 2 Mar 1864. He was surrendered on 11 May 1865 at Quincy, Gadsden County, Florida. Private Samuel Francis Scott
Company D, 6th Florida Infantry Regiment


 Samuel Francis M. Scott, son of James Franklin Scott, was born 5 Dec 1842, in Jackson County, Florida, and died 24 Jan 1912. He enlisted in Company D, 6th Florida Infantry on 17 Mar 1862. On 19 Apr 1862, he transferred to Company F, same regiment. He spent some time in the Marianna, Florida Confederate Hospital in 1863. He rejoined his company and was later captured near Nashville, Tennessee, on 16 Dec 1864. He was sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois, where he remained until the war was over. For some reason he enlisted in the 6th United States Infantry on 5 May 1865. He applied for and was awarded a pension for his Confederate service.
