Walter Jacob Robinson, son of Jacob Robinson & Jane Mary Lawson Robinson, was born in Georgia, 1 Jun 1820. Walter died 1 Jun 1890, in Jackson County, Florida. He is buried in the family cemetery on Carter's Mill Road. Walter is listed in the 1860 census as a “Farmer and a Gent of high rank.” In 1861 he is listed as Captain of the “Chipola Rangers.” This company mustered in as Company E, 2nd Battalion, Florida Infantry, at Merritt’s Bridge, on 11 Aug 1862. This company became Company A, 11th Florida Infantry, on 8 Jun 1864. The company was a member of Finegan’s Brigade, Mahone’s Division, A. P. Hill’s Corps, Army of Northern Virginia. During 1863 and 1864, Captain Robinson was in and out of several Confederate Army hospital’s with various illnesses. He was home, on sick furlough, during the Marianna Raid. Captain Robinson volunteered his services with Captain Norwood's "Cradle to Grave" Home Guard. Captain Robinson managed to escape across the Chipola River. John Widgeon enlisted as a private in Captain Smith's
Marianna Dragoons on 14 Mar 1862, and died of disease on 31 Oct 1862. He is
buried at Robinson's Family Cemetery, Marianna, Jackson County,
